Dun Guaidhre
Refurbishment of a bothy in the Hebrides

Our new Patchwork collection of cushions, throws and bedspreads was photographed off the west coast of Scotland on the Isle of Mull in Dun Guaidhre – a small, 200-year-old fisherman’s cottage recently brought back to life through a sympathetic and considered renovation.

Designed by Rachel and Peter of Harford-Cross Architects, the building speaks of the remote and rocky landscape it nestles in. Its interior is a perfect partnership of Scottish heritage and timeless innovation.

Dun Guaidhre was the idyllic location to shoot our new collection. Understated and charming, it mirrors our approach to design unequivocally – a commitment to time-honoured craft and sustainable practices.

Croft 3
From Dun Guaidhre we headed to Fanmore in the north west to squeeze in a delicious dinner at Croft 3. This is a working croft and restaurant set in a beautifully converted barn where food is served in a very cool dining-hall setting overlooking the sea towards Ulva. Owners and operators Jeanette and Jack complement produce they use from the land with creative, culinary twists. Getting there we drove through open glens, spotting birds of prey, red deer, forests, hills and sweeps of white sand and rocky coastlines. This easily accessible island must also include a visit to the cafe at The Gallery, former Free Church on Tobermory's main street, and shop which sells designs including soaps by natural cosmetics brand Òir as well as stationery, beanies and bags by Nina Tans. For a souvenir and/or instant hit, Bueno Fudge made on-site by Sarah of Tobermory Stores and the hand-harvested seaweed chutneys, the brainchild of islander Tara from Isle of Mull Seaweed, won't disappoint.
